On the first day of Sunday School, six good friends walk into the classroom to find a stranger-a girl with big, black, curly hair-sitting at one of the desks. Without giving her much thought, and ignoring the worried look in her eyes, they send her away to find a different class. But what’s even stranger to them is their new teacher, Mr. Mensch, who is dressed up like the Statue of Liberty! Mr. Mensch takes the kids on a whirlwind adventure aboard his magical Meshugenahmobile, all the way back to 1903, a time when immigrants arrived to the shores of New York in waves, to unwelcoming crowds.
